A bit about us

Our dog training story began many years ago when we found ourselves in a big, chaotic, stressful puppy class in a small, noisy hall. No-one was having fun. Not even the instructor. And we thought: ‘We could do this better. A lot better.’ And so we did...

Over the years we've found that each dog is unique but as owners we pretty much want the same thing: to be able to take our dogs anywhere, to enjoy their company, to have fun together, for them not to embarrass us by stealing sandwiches from a kids’ picnic, turning deaf when we call and barking their heads off at every dog that passes (yep, we’ve had dogs that did all of that too). And that's our philosophy at HotDog Training: to help every pet parent live happily with their dog.

Sue Rose - Dog trainer and behaviourist

Sue Rose

Trainer and behaviourist

Sue Rose has studied with some incredible dog trainers and behaviourists from the UK, Europe and America, including the School of Canine Science and is a fully qualified member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers

Sue has wide experience in helping owners of dogs with behaviour problems, including aggression, separation anxiety and destructive behaviours : ‘My starting point with dogs is emotion. Excitement, fear, anxiety, frustration and pleasure drive your dog’s behaviour. Understanding emotions, and gently working to change them, is the key to successful training and solving many problem behaviours.’

Sue particularly enjoys working with dogs where the training is 'stuck' or unravelling, finding innovative approaches to solve issues.

Tracy Crook - Dog trainer and behaviourist

Carol Connor - Dog trainer and puppy specialist

Carol Connor

Trainer and puppy specialist

Carol has studied widely with the IMDT, focussing on group classes: ‘I want our classes to be fun for the owner AND the dog. If you’re both enjoying it, you’ll both be motivated to keep training. ’

Her latest qualification is as an Easy Peasy Puppy Squeeze Instructor, gained while working for 3 days alongside world-renowned trainer Steve Mann. Carol brings the most up to date knowledge and thinking about puppy development into our group classes and her 1-2-1s with new puppies in their homes.

As a mother of four, she loves working with children and their dogs and run special session for young people.

What some of our clients say...

'We had tried other classes locally and were starting to despair.. but the Shape ‘Em Up course taught all the things we had tried before but in a new way that just clicked with our 6 month old. Very useful, we highly recommend.' Morgan Family, High Wycombe

'Sue Rose is an incredible dog trainer giving her clients confidence quickly and endless patience to help resolve any problems. I recommend her regularly and wouldn't hesitate to go back and brush up my training abilities as and when any issues arise. My dog adores her even more and is a happier dog because of her training advice' LM, Little Kingshill

'I just wanted to say thank you so much for today! I feel so much more confident that we know what we are doing! We've been practising and even stopped him ripping his floor mat for the first time'

Just to say a big thank you to Tracy for our recent  course. We benefited greatly and will be first to sign up to another one. And I think I can speak for my fellow trainees and say they felt the same. Just sayin’ ;) S.W, Little Kingshill
